Israeli-Palestinian Conflict
The Israeli–Palestinian conflict is the ongoing argument between Israelis and Palestinians that began in the late 19th and early 20th century. The Zionist Jews claim that the land was given to them by their ancestor Abraham by God. "To your descendants I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates." (Holy Bible) The Palestinians believe that the land is theirs because they had been living there for the last couple decades. The two major nationalist movements among the Jews and among the Arabs were both geared towards attaining independence for their people in the Middle East. This conflict between the Jews and Arabs from 1920 and erupted into full-scale hostilities in the 1947 civil war. The conflict continues to the present day on various levels. the battle between these two religions/peoples started when the United Nations granted the Jews/Zionists land in Palestine in 1948. The Jews took most of land from Palestine and formed the country known today as Israel. The other party (Palestinians who were not in favor) were very upset and did not approve of this. They were greatly outvoted in which anger arose. The Palestinians who are not in favor have since been at war with the northern state of Israel. The two countries attack each other with missiles, air raids and they have many firefights. Over 60000 people have lost their lives since the first attacks starting in 1920.
